If you missed out on visiting one of the many sold out dates that Aubrey & the Three Amigos visited, you did yourself a disservice. Being that I may be a Drake stan, it was only right that I spent my birthday with the 6God himself. With that being said, there was no one else who I could have taken this trip with than Ashley, my apparent long lost twin and fellow Drake super fan.
After concluding my birthday activities on my actual birthday, 11/15, and doing some last minute packing, I finally reached my parents house at 1:30 AM. That gave me just 2.5 hours to take a nap and charge all my electronics for the 6 AM flight.
TRAVEL TIP
If you can stand waking up a tad bit earlier, book an early morning flight. This not only gives you a full day in your destination city, it also helps to:
Avoid plane delays due to less air traffic
Avoid turbulence since inclement weather seems to onset in the afternoon
Avoid heavy airport traffic
Secure a cheaper flight
After finally getting thru security, my exhaustion had overpowered my excitement and I slept at every opportunity imaginable. However, once my feet touched the Atlanta soil I was bright eyed and ready to take on the world. I connected with Ashley at the airport, we of course did some last minute shopping in order to prepare for the night ahead.

Our preparation took us to Cumberland Mall where we looked for gear for the concert as well had mall eats. If you didn’t know, mall Chinese food is unmatched. After spending more money than I bargained for and taking a much needed trip to a local liquor store for libations, we were ready for Drake.
Take a peek at our concert fashions below. I of course rocked the vintage Drake, “Views“ t shirt from his last tour, which we did attend, while Ashley donned the "Culture" t shirt in honor of Migos.
Once we loaded up on liquid courage, we hailed our Uber and the night began. After a short period of searching for the correct entrance to the State Farm Arena we were finally inside and ready for all the night had to offer. Before we could get comfortable in our seats, we headed to the merchandise tables in search of the extremely popular Scorpion jackets, which were no longer sold online.

The first table we came across had the Red Scorpion bomber that I had been eyeing via Instagram for months. It sat at a price point of $275. I was stuck between “Oh hell naw” and “ It’s yo birthday, treat yo’ self“. After trying the red bomber on and loving it, I declined its purchase and we set out to find the bigger merch table. From this table, like the twins we are, we both grabbed a more modestly priced Scorpion jacket ($80) and a tour T Shirt ($30).
Due to the loss of my small black backpack at the On the Run Tour earlier this year (RIP to a festival favorite), I opted for a small cross body for the concert and was therefore overjoyed to see the large clear bags that the merchandise was sold with. After grabbing our our items and grabbing a drink from the bar we were ready to enjoy the show.

The venue boasted a middle stage with a four way screen in the middle and as well as screens overhead. Migos of course opened the show, wearing signature race car suits in different colors. However, it was evident that everyone was saving their excitement for Drake.
Drake opened his set with one of my personal favorites from the Scorpion album, "8 out of 10" and flowed into "Mob Ties". From there, he gave everyone in the arena Drake nostalgia and performed some of his oldies but goodies. This included songs like, "Started from the Bottom" and "Jump-man".
Although it's always a treat to see Drake, he did not disappoint with his guests. Night 1 included special cameos and performances by Lil Baby, 21 Savage and French Montana. Even though I would have loved to see Trey Songz and Young Jeezy on night 3, I was not mad.
Overall, night 1 in Atlanta was a success. Thanks Drake!

SN: Although the $80 dollar jackets were a bargain, the quality was much cheaper, as expected. So cheap that some of the letters on Ashley’s jacket had begun to peel before the weekend was over.
